Your Podiatry Appointment

I offer a self-referred foot care service which includes; assessment of many skin and nail conditions, treatment after the assessment and further advice to prevent recurrence and improve management of the feet.

Consent to treatment – before any podiatrist treatment commences you will be required to sign a consent form.

All appointments consist of medical history, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention.

Medical history

On your first appointment with myself, it is part of the treatment to review any medications you take and potential allergies. This ensures I will be the best practitioner to see to your feet.

Assessment

Next we will move onto your foot problem and together with your medical history, we will discuss the best way to manage your foot health and resolve any problems you are having.

Diagnosis

It is always quite satisfying to know your problem has a name, this can simply be long nails that you have difficulty self treating or it may be a more complex or unusual issue. Even if you feel you know what treatment you need we will still go through this process to ensure I am providing the best service for your individual needs.

Treatment options

Routine treatment

(up to 40 mins)

This is the treatment element of the appointment. I will address each foot concern.

  • Nails trimmed and filed
  • Corns removed and pressure relief applied
  • Callus around heels and other areas removed with scalpel if required
  • All skin smoothed

After every routine service there is a mini foot massage with or without foot cream. This concludes your treatment. I use a high quality foot cream that is suitable for most skin types.

Biomechanical treatment

(up to 60 mins)

You may require a podiatry biomechanical review rather than routine foot care. This would either be assessed on diagnosis or you may be aware you already need this service. This is a review of the structure of the foot. I look at how this affects and is affected by your gait – the way you move, walk and run. You may be suffering with pain in the soft tissues, hard skin or damaged nails caused by a biomechanical issue. This is often picked up during a routine treatment. If the issue is ultimately biomechanical we proceed to this service. I can fit you for insoles and other products as part of this treatment.

Verrucae (plural of verruca) treatment

(add on to routine – 10 mins)

I assess for verrucae treatment on an individual basis. There are range of treatments available, suitable for clients of all ages. I find that the most successful way of treating verrucae is several treatments in short succession.

Verrutop treatment

(add on to routine – £15)

New for 2020 – I can provide Verrutop treatments. This is a highly effective, painless and simple verruca treatment, suitable for adults and children over the age of 6. This treatment is only available from podiatrists, do contact me if you’d like to find out more.

Preventing

Ultimately I want your foot condition to be managed, this is just as important as the assessment and the treatment. Seeing me on a routine basis is of course important. But I would also love to empower you to maintain your own great foot health. I can provide you with professional foot creams, pressure management and devices. These can all help manage your foot conditions when you are not seeing me directly.
